An air cooler is a common type of heat exchange equipment that is mainly used to cool air or gaseous fluids. It realizes the purpose of cooling by contacting the hot air or gas fluid with the cooling medium. Air coolers are widely used in many industrial fields, such as power plants, petrochemicals, metallurgy and so on.

The working principle of air cooler is to transfer the heat from hot air or gas fluid to the cooling medium by heat conduction, convection and radiation. Its main components include heat exchange tube bundle, fan, shell, cooling medium and so on.

The heat exchange tube bundle is the core component of the air cooler, which consists of many parallel-arranged tubes. Hot air or gaseous fluid passes through these tubes, releasing heat on the contact surfaces of the tube walls and the medium inside the tubes. Generally, heat exchange tube bundles are made of metal materials, such as copper and aluminum, to improve heat transfer efficiency.

The fan is another important component in the air cooler, which accelerates the flow of the cooling medium by generating forced convection, increasing the contact area between the hot air or gaseous fluid and the cooling medium, thus increasing the heat transfer. The fan is generally driven by an electric motor and can be used in combination with a single or multiple fans according to cooling requirements.

The shell is the external protective structure of the air cooler, which plays the role of fixing, supporting and protecting. The shell is usually made of metal material with good strength and corrosion resistance.

Cooling medium is the heat transfer medium in the air cooler, generally using water or air. In water coolers, the cooling medium is circulating cooling water, which is introduced into the heat exchange tube bundle through a water pump to absorb the heat in the hot air or gas fluid, and then cooled by the cooling medium to finally discharge the heat. While in the air cooler, the cooling medium is the outside air, through the fan will blow the outside air into the heat exchange tube bundle, and the hot air or gas fluid heat exchange, the heat will be taken away.

Air cooler has the advantages of simple structure, easy to use and low maintenance cost. It is suitable for some occasions where water cooling cannot be used, such as places far away from water sources, or where the medium contains corrosive substances. In industrial production, air cooler is widely used in thermal power plants, petrochemical industry, metallurgy and other fields, which plays an important role in cooling to ensure the normal operation of equipment. At the same time, air coolers also play a positive role in environmental protection, reducing the consumption of water resources and reducing environmental pollution.
